What we test¶
Doorprints has three features that use AI. This page says what they do, what we check before a release, and what we measured the last time. You can read the questions we ask, so you can try them with your own key before you spend anything.
What the AI features do¶
- Extract (Fill in from listing text) reads an ad you paste, for example from WhatsApp, and suggests the form's details: price, rent or sale, BHK, area, extras and notes. You check them before you save.
- Ask answers a question from the houses, notes and visits you saved, and links each answer to the houses it comes from. If your saved houses do not say, it says so.
- Plan visits picks saved houses that match what you want to see and puts them into a walking route.

The checks we run¶
Before a release we run the same list of 75 cases against the AI: 34 listings to read, 31 questions to answer and 10 plans to make. The houses in them are made up; no real person's details are in them. A case passes only if the AI does the right thing and breaks none of the rules.

A word about contact details
The text you paste into Fill in from listing text goes to the AI as you pasted it. If the ad has a name and a phone number, they are sent too: reading them is what the feature is for. Contact details you have already saved on a house are replaced before Ask or Plan are sent. This is best effort: a nickname, or a short local number that is not the saved phone, can slip through.

The bar a release has to clear¶
A run passes only when every one of these is met. They are written in the test list itself
(docs/ai/evals/golden-set.json in the repository), so loosening one is a change anyone can see.

We ran all 75 cases three times on Google's Vertex AI, with a Google Gemini model, on the code of main at
23a7602c. Every run passed the bar above.

One miss repeats: the question "Which houses have I already visited and when?" sometimes lists only one of the two visited houses. We are looking into it.
These numbers are a dated measurement, not a promise. Results depend on the AI service and the model you choose. We publish the questions so you can try them with your own key. The tests use made-up houses. Nothing here is a guarantee.
No scorecard for your own key
This scorecard is for the self-hosted server's AI, on Google's Vertex AI. The apps' own-key adapters (Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic and the others) have no published scorecard: we have not measured them the same way. You can use the published questions to try your own key before you rely on it.
What it costs¶
This is the one cost table in the guide; other pages point here. The figures are for a paid Gemini key at Google's list prices of October 2026 ($1.50 for every million tokens sent, $9 for every million received, about ₹88 to the dollar) and the model's default setting. Prices change.

On the Economy setting the cost was about 47% lower in our tests (AI speed and cost). Google's free tier costs nothing, but it has a daily limit, and on it Google may read and use what you send (see AI without a server). Another service prices differently, and it bills you directly. If someone runs a server for you, they pay for its AI. For the steps to pay less or more privately, see the paid tier.

The list below is all 75 cases, as the test sends them. It is made from the test file itself, so it matches what we run.

These are the golden set, version 0.9. Some inputs are deliberately hostile test inputs: they try to make the AI break its rules, and the AI must ignore them. They are shown as the test sends them, in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The houses are made up.
